Aaron in the Wildwoods by Joel Chandler Harris is for sale. Aaron in the Wildwoods is a US first edition book published by Houghton Mifflin and Company in Boston and New York in 1897.
Joel Chandler Harris Aaron in the Wildwoods has the original beige coloured binding with the front board that features a large illustration of a man standing behind a tree with a pig to his left which is taken from the illustration opposite page 32. The back board has a motif of a rabbit in a circle in black to the centre.
The Joel Chandler Harris Aaron in the Wildwoods binding is in Very Good condition with bright illustration and gilt lettering to the front board but with light marks to the front board and back board, darkening to the spine, partial break to the front hinge, cracking to the paper between the rear pastedown and the rear endpaper, and bumps to the top and bottom of the spine.
Overall, an extremely attractive and presentable illustrated binding with the condition above what one would expect with a children’s illustrated book of this age.
Joel Chandler Harris Aaron in the Wildwoods has 270 numbered pages with all edges tinted green and with 24 illustrations by Oliver Herford who later went onto to illustrate the Peter Pan Alphabet which was published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1907.
The pages are in overall Very Good condition with the lightest of age toning to the margins of the pages (barely noticeable, and only mentioned for completeness).
